Why I'm fundraising

This March, I’m taking on 150 kilometres for the 150 children born with Neurofibromatosis (NF) in Australia each year. NF isn’t picky. It can appear at any time. It’s unpredictable, progressive, and often disfiguring. It’s genetic — and there is currently no cure. I’m taking part in Step Up for NF to support the Children’s Tumour Foundation and the thousands of Australians living with neurofibromatosis. More than 13,000 people across Australia live with this complex condition, which causes tumours to grow on nerves throughout the body. I’m stepping up because tumours shouldn’t be anyone’s normal. This year, I’ve been fortunate — a relatively manageable year with NF. Still, that has meant regular doctor visits, hospital appointments, MRIs, and surgeries to remove troublesome tumours. It’s a reminder that even in “good” years, NF is always present. My goal is to raise $500 to help increase awareness and to support the Children’s Tumour Foundation in providing the information, care, and advocacy that individuals and families rely on every day. Any donation, big or small, will help people living with NF access the support and guidance they need. Together, we can turn every step into real change for the NF community.
